By Plane
There are direct flights to Perugia's local airport (San Francesco d'Assisi) from London Heathrow (LHR), Stansted (STN), and Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) airports on certain days of the week.
Otherwise, there are two options to reach Perugia from other airports: Firenze - Amerigo Vespucci Airport or Roma Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport:
Arrive to Firenze’s Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR) - 2H car ride or 2.5h train ride to Perugia
Arrive to Roma’s Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO) - 2H car ride or 3h train ride to Perugia
For guests traveling from European destinations: the most convenient airport is Firenze’s Amerigo Vespucci Airport
For guests traveling from the US: we suggest Roma’s Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO) given there are direct flights
By Taxi
Ubers are not always reliable in Italy. If you need a car from the airport or within Perugia, we recommend trying the Uber app first or contacting the Perugia taxi company (see fares here)
By Train
We highly recommend using the train system to travel as it is seamless, convenient, comfortable, and highly affordable.
ItaliaRail offers direct train rides to Perugia from Firenze and Roma.
The city's train stop is "Perugia" - all other stops (e.g., Perugia Ponte San Giovanni) will leave you far away from the city center. From the train station you can either take a taxi (5min) or walk (25min) to the city's historic center where the majority of hotels are located.
From the airport in Roma (FCO): you will first take a 30min train ride to Roma's main train station(Roma Termini) and then connect for a direct train to Perugia
From the airport in Firenze (FLR): you will first take a taxi to Firenze's main train station, Firenze Santa Maria Novella, and then take a direct train to Perugia.
